ReadyWhen envisions a future where arts venues, cultural organizations, and community gathering spaces are vital assets in their communities’ disaster preparedness and response efforts.

Launched in September 2025 by Majestic Collaborations in collaboration with arts & emergency management partners, it synthesizes over nine years of work in the sector, proposing a new model for disaster planning that harnesses the skills of mass gatherings experts to dramatically improve community readiness. We provide three primary services:

  • Tabletop: An entry exercise to jumpstart the conversation about disaster readiness in a creative, collaborative way. Available in-person or online for organizations, arts and cultural conferences, and government agencies.
  • Training: A 15-hour Foundation Certificate in Event & Emergency Operations and an opensource online resource hub to help arts and culture professionals increase the readiness of their own organizations– and to increase fiscal resilience by positioning their venue and workers as critical community infrastructure.
  • Toolkit: Partnership frameworks, factsheets, and advocacy materials designed to help arts & culture workers lead the change toward readiness in their own organization or local community.

About the creators

Majestic Collaborations is a national leader in helping communities harness the power of arts, culture, and public gatherings to build resilience. For nine years, we’ve transformed festivals across the country into classrooms for disaster readiness through our Art of Mass Gatherings program. The ReadyWhen project is developed in partnership with the Performing Arts Readiness Project and International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection. It’s made possible thanks to the insight and feedback of the inspiring emergency managers, disaster responders, arts and cultural organizations, and city and county officials we’ve worked with nationwide.
